Full Bio
Amikaeyla is an internationally recognized vocalist, speaker, and healing arts practitioner whose life’s work centers on music as medicine and the sonic infrastructure of systems change. As founder and director of the International Cultural Arts & Healing Sciences Institute (ICAHSI), she has pioneered programming that addresses the biological foundations of social movements, activist burnout, and collective trauma through neuroscience-informed musical interventions.
Her journey began with a near-death experience—surviving a brutal hate crime that left her hospitalized and traumatized. Through music, she discovered not just healing, but a profound calling to help others access their authentic voice and collective coherence. This transformation led to her recognition as an International Hero for Peace and Forgiveness, and shaped her unique approach to healing that bridges ancient wisdom traditions with cutting-edge neuroscience.
Through ICAHSI, Amikaeyla has created Music-Spirit Health Conferences for at-risk populations of women and girls of color, conducted Hope and Healing retreats for women affected with cancer, and held concerts and in-home services for terminally ill patients. She has led corporations through communications training and served on boards with the National Institutes of Health, Department of Health & Human Services, and the National Surgeon General’s Health Advisory Council.
As a Cultural Ambassador, Amikaeyla has traveled to many countries including Nigeria, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Uruguay, working with at-risk youth and children. She has also worked in the Middle East with Iraqi and Palestinian refugee children, using music to alleviate pain and trauma caused by war.
Her groundbreaking work has earned her the U.N. Global Woman Award, the Voss Foundation Emerging Women Leaders Award, Outstanding Service in Social Justice and Advocacy, and the International Hero for Peace and Forgiveness award. As a jazz vocalist, her album “Being In Love” has been recognized by NPR as featuring one of the “purest contemporary voices” in music today.
